Balancing conservation with contemporary performance, it renews a South London home through delicate restoration, exemplary brickwork craftsmanship, and a considered play of light, structure, and framed views. Deep-piled foundations safeguard the house from historic subsidence, ensuring it endures for generations to come.

Extensive structural repairs were necessary to address subsidence, requiring deep piling to stabilise the entire building. The project also includes a comprehensive thermal upgrade, enhancing energy efficiency and providing year-round comfort.

Preservation of materials has been central to the redesign, given the home’s conservation area designation. Original windows have been restored, and yellow stock brick was chosen to seamlessly integrate new elements with the existing façade. A vertical brick bay at the rear of the property adds architectural depth and frames views of the mature garden trees, while a cantilevered section prevents overheating, enabling larger glazed areas without sacrificing energy performance.
