Ridgeway
An eco-led revival
Soon to start on site and located within the Wimbledon North Conservation Area, this project is a comprehensive renovation and extension of a family home influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement. The proposal replaces a 1948 half-storey side addition with a new three-storey volume that closely follows the original massing and geometry, finished in red brick to complement the historic detailing. Corbelling, dentil courses, and gable-end brickwork are preserved and extended as a respectful continuation of the original architectural language.
Targeting Passivhaus standards, this project blends conservation sensitivity with high-performance design, creating a home that is both respectful of its context and prepared for the future.

To the rear, two dual-pitched volumes introduce a more contemporary expression, offering generous, light-filled spaces that remain materially sympathetic to the house’s character.
A new basement improves functionality while reorganised circulation resolves previously convoluted internal movement.
Exposed brickwork and a balanced palette of classic and contemporary finishes define the interiors.
Ridgeway is an example of the way we seek to respect the character of each site’s inherent architecture while reimagining it for the future. Two new dual-pitched volumes reinterpret the house’s lineage, using form, proportion, and materiality to create a contemporary expression that remains firmly grounded in its context. Exposed natural materials and a timber-frame structure bring warmth and clarity to the interiors, while Passivhaus-led thermal standards ensure a low-energy build that honours the past while preparing the house for generations to come.
