Grace
Within the grain
For years, this family made their home on the first floor of a converted house in West Dulwich. When the opportunity arose to purchase the entire property, they embraced it - not with grand plans, but with a quiet ambition to renew what was already there.

Working with a modest budget, the project became an exercise in restraint and ingenuity. We worked carefully within the existing fabric, uncovering opportunities for greater spatial clarity, warmth, and a more natural connection to the garden. Every intervention was deliberate: reusing structure, refining the flow between rooms, and introducing gentle moments of contemplation, all while celebrating the qualities the site already offered.
Simple materials, honest finishes, and subtle shifts in plan helped transform this house into a home. A once disjointed layout is now coherent and calm, with improved sightlines, better flow, and a stronger connection to the garden. All achieved within a modest budget, an exceptionally tight timeframe, and captured on UKTV’s Renovate Don’t Relocate.
The home's exterior was upgraded with a large mahogany wooden carport and front doors, allowing for a welcoming and sheltered entrance. Dormers were added to the upstairs floors to allow for more room and daylight in the kids bed- and playrooms.
