Academy
Designed for growth
We were commissioned to sensitively transform a Grade II listed nineteenth-century villa in South West London, into a more adaptable learning environment. With their growing success, the school now requires more flexible, larger-scale teaching spaces, leading us to design a new extension that both enhances the site and respects its historic fabric.

The design includes the removal of a poor-quality 20th century annexe and the introduction of a five-storey extension. This new addition, linked by a minimal glazed bridge, provides much-needed classrooms and a generous assembly hall.
The scheme draws on the local character of the High Road, taking inspiration from neighbouring Victorian terraces and modern apartment blocks. Through the use of red brick, refined detailing, and carefully proportioned glazing, the extension offers a contemporary intervention of its context without competing with the listed villa.
